1 Peter 2:7-9

⁷So honor will come to you who believe; but for the unbelieving,

The stone that the builders rejected—
this one has become the cornerstone,^[a]^(A)

⁸and

A stone to stumble over,
and a rock to trip over.^[b]^(B)

They stumble because they disobey the word; they were destined^(C) for this.

⁹But you are a chosen race,^[c]^[d]^(D) a royal priesthood,^[e]^(E) a holy nation,^[f]^(F) a people for his possession,^[g]^(G) so that you may proclaim the praises^[h]^[i]^(H) of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.^(I)
